EMPOWERING GENERATIONS

OUR MISSION 

Here at African American Reconstruction, we are driven by a single goal; to lead a modern and necessary Reconstruction Era dedicated to the advancement of the African American Community. Our primary goals focus on civic engagement and advocacy, empowering generations, and community development.

The Destiny Cohort

The Destiny Cohort is a free, all-virtual program for rising Black high school seniors in Arizona launching Fall 2025. Participants receive one-on-one college advising, scholarship matchmaking, essay reviews, and monthly workshops on topics like financial aid, the Common App, HBCU applications, and personal branding. First-generation students and those interested in HBCUs or  PWIs are encouraged to apply.

Applications are due September 15, 2025.

2nd Annual Empowering Generations 5K and Festival: Remembering Mel Hannah

Last  Earth Day we hosted our 2nd Empowering Generation 5k and Festival at Indian Steele Park. Through your support we were able to provide opportunities for Black Vendors, engage with community, and fundraise from our youth Educational Programs!!

Our 2nd Annual AAR Teen Conference has officially been accomplished! This year we focused on the theme, The Winner Within. We had awesome guest speakers, workshops, scholarship opportunities, food, games, and so much more. In order to have another successful conference next year, make sure to donate and sign up for our second Empowering Generations 5K!
